Komin Yamada, from Japan, is renowned and acclaimed for his functional, “cutting-edge” designs. He is the man behind the Global design, Rosendahl kitchen knives and the Bunmei knife range. The first Global knife was designed in 1985 and has since taken both professional and domestic kitchens by storm.
With a virtually unlimited budget, the Yoshikin factories asked him to develop a range of kitchen knives that would appeal both to professional chefs and to gourmet cooks at home.
The result speaks for itself – his knives are renowned, well-loved tools in all sorts of kitchens because their sharp blades and the perfect balance of their design make food preparation a unique experience and a study in perfectly formed tools.
Designing Rosendahl’s kitchen knives, he took his inspiration from nature. The gently curving knife blade resembles a husk with the characteristic five grains of rice embossed on the handle. This design gives the knives their aesthetic styling and ensures a firm grip.
