Holmegaard builds on the legacy of a remarkable woman who must be said to have been ahead of her time, Countess Henriette Danneskiold-Samsøe. She founded a glasswork at Holmegaard marsh, as it was her late husband’s dream to create a glassworks there. But that's not the only thing that made her so remarkable. She also managed to turn it into an artistic and aesthetic world of design that is still relevant today – almost 200 years later.
