The Lyngby vase has become one of the most iconic designs from Lyngby. When the Lyngby vase was originally designed, it was the stark opposite to the classic and very traditional porcelain techniques. With its elongated and grooved shapes and elegant simplicity, the Lyngby vase was a design never before seen in porcelain. As most people know, it ended up taking the market by storm, and today it is synonymous with Danish design, which is why it is also found in many Danish homes. 

The other product that inspired the plant pot from Lyngby was the bonbonniere. The bonbonniere from Lyngby is certainly also a well-known design from the brand, and its many varieties are a common sight in Danish homes. Lyngby produced its first bonbonniere with lid in 1944, and it remains a firm favourite in the archives. The mouth-blown bowl is available in several attractive colours and sizes, making it suitable for everything from serving on the dining table to storing jewellery and sweet treats, such as fine chocolates. The Bonbonniere is mouth-blown, a technique used for many of Lyngby’s designs.

The flowerpot’s origins thus consist of two giants in Danish design, and it shows. It is available in classic white porcelain and in a more subdued golden colour inspired by leaves, earth and cornfields. It features the iconic elongated and vertical grooves that Lyngby designs are known for. The bottom has the same soft shape as the vase and the bonbonniere, along with the straight, steep finish at the top.

So it's very clear where the inspiration for the design of Lyngby’s elegant flowerpots comes from. It is also an object that will trigger instant recognition in your home if you know a little about Danish design classics.
