Rosendahl Birds – Modern feeding stations made from recycled plastic
With the new Rosendahl Birds series, you can both enjoy nature and do something good for it at the same time. The series’ decorative and functional feeding stations are created in a functional design, where every single detail has been well considered. The designs are made from 100% recycled plastic, which is collected and produced in Denmark in accordance with designer Signe Wenneberg’s sustainable design principles. She is a gardening enthusiast and a great advocate for a sustainable lifestyle where you recycle materials. This is in line with Rosendahl’s goal of reducing the climate footprint our designs place on the planet. For this reason, the feeding stations in the series are made from household recycled plastic, which is collected in Randers, transformed into new material in Langå and moulded and packaged in Juelsminde. The material withstands wind and rain, so you can safely put it in your garden without worrying about it fading or breaking.
Rosendahl Birds has four different designs to choose from - one is on a spike for the lawn, and three that can be hung on a tree or balcony if you live in an urban environment. Designed in an organic and harmonious shape, they add a decorative edge to the garden and create a safe and pleasant place for the birds to eat and gather together.
Bird feeding table
In many gardens, small birds such as blackbirds, tits, robins and sparrows like to drop by and be watched. They often sit on branches in the garden, but they are happy to sit for a little longer if you have a feeding table with something tasty that they can eat. A feeding table makes it easier for birds to eat all year round. During the hot summer period, the birds can find their own food in nature, but during the cold winter they need help getting food. With one of our feeding tables or feeding balls, you can welcome the birds into a safe environment. They are built in harmony with nature to make it easier for birds to keep an eye on their surroundings and any dangers such as birds of prey when they are eating.
When should you feed birds?
A good rule of thumb is to feed the birds every day all year round. Once they’ve found out where there’s food to get, they’ll keep coming back. Many people choose to feed the birds in the garden or balcony during the winter, when food is scarce in nature. But it's also important to put bird food out for the rest of the year. Once you have started feeding the birds, they will expect you to keep putting food out for them. The birds will therefore often wait around for you to put the food out. Stopping giving food suddenly can have serious consequences for the birds. Once you have set up your new feeding table or new feeding ball, you can relax with a cup of coffee and watch the birdlife outside. Birds are a wonderful mood booster, so it definitely pays off to have a bird feeding station.
How much should you give?
When serving bird food to the birds in the garden, it is important to give the right amount. For example, if you use our feeding ball or the feeding station on several levels, you'll need to put out enough bird seeds so that the birds become full, but not too much so that the seeds end up lying around and becoming mouldy. Our feeding station is made with a clever drainage hole, so when it rains, the water drains off. Just fill in the seeds from the top and they’ll spread out across the levels.
It is a good idea to refill it every two to three days. You can start with a small amount and then see how much is eaten. If the seeds are gone the next day, try adding a little more until one day you can see they haven't all been eaten. Give a little less the next day and this will be the correct amount. At the same time, make sure you keep it clean so dirt and bird droppings do not accumulate, which isn't good for the birds, and doesn't look very nice and inviting either.
Make your own bird food
It is both fun and easy to make bird feed yourself. It also means you can decide what the menu consists of and thereby attract several different kinds of birds. Birds are not fussy eaters and like to eat different types of bird food, but on the other hand they do care about the quality of what they put in their beaks. If you find that there aren't that many birds on your feeding table, it might be because the food isn't good or fresh enough. Therefore, be aware of whether the seeds are mouldy or dry and ensure that you only serve a bird-friendly diet. Then you’ll have plenty of visitors in your garden.
You can easily make bird food by mixing bird seeds and lard to make it stick well together. You can also make one with raisins, berries and oats. The robin is particularly fond of this composition. You can shape the balls into muffin forms or a cream carton and insert a string first before the mass solidifies. Then you can hang it up afterwards. Also put a little water out for the birds to give them a drink.
High-quality feeding balls
Our feeding balls and feeding stations are made in a high quality that can withstand the often harsh weather. They come in different sizes to suit your needs and tastes. You can almost certainly find a nice feeding table here, where birds can find shelter and enjoy something to eat. Once they’ve found out that they can find food in your garden all year round, you’ll also find that they’re building nests in the garden's trees, beds and hedges, so they can stay close to the food.
Bird feeding station keeps pests away
There are many advantages to having a bird feeding station in your garden. The birds don't just bring lovely birdsong when they come to visit. They also help to eat, and thus keep away, insects and harmful small animals that are found on the lawn or your plants. If you have a smaller garden with little space, a bird feeding station will be a decorative element that birds can visit on a daily basis. You thereby create life in your garden, ensuring it's always a nice place to be – both for you and for the birds.
Where is the best place to place the feeding table?
One thing is to find a feeding table, another is to know where it is best to place it in the garden. Should it be left in the open so that the birds can easily get to it? Or is it better to hide the table away so that the birds can eat in peace?
The most important thing is that the birds should be and feel safe. If you make the bird box too exposed, the birds will be exposed to attacks from birds of prey attack, but if it is placed in between bushes, there is a risk that a cat might jump up there while the birds are eating. We therefore recommend that you place your bird feeding table near some branches, but without placing it inside any bushes or shrubs. If you can find a place in the garden where you can enjoy seeing and hearing the birds eat, then this is ideal. If you’re looking for the perfect feeding table or balls, we look forward to delivering them to you so that you can put them up in your garden or on your balcony.
