Stilleben v/Reckweg & Nordentoft
The design duo Stilleben – Ditte Reckweg & Jelena Schou Nordentoft – belong to a new generation of designers who respect tradition but also possess the boldness to innovate. They both graduated from the Danish Design School in ceramics and glass in 2001, and together they run the stores Stilleben, Stilleben no. 22 and Stilleben Architects, where together with architect Ditlev Rahbek, they have renewed the kitchen industry with a focus on timeless design, functionality and excellent craftsmanship.
Ever since the Stilleben duo opened their first Stilleben store, they have come up with ideas that have led to new and modern designs. And in addition to running their own line of Stilleben designs – including tableware, posters, furniture and accessories – the duo collaborates with internationally renowned design companies such as Kähler, Skagerak and Lyngby Porcelæn. Today, both their store and their designs are recognised worldwide, and the duo have long since become part of the modern design history with the iconic Omaggio vase in 2008, which immediately became a worldwide bestseller, and later Omaggio Nuovo, which has helped define and redefine classic Danish design in our time.
Still life is also an excellent example of how Kähler has always given way to new talents that stand out from the crowd, alongside more established artists and designers. And history has proven that there's no need to change this approach. Like Kähler’s handmade design traditions, Stilleben's designs are simple and functional, but always with a detail that makes all the difference – while focusing on precise design and on materials and surfaces that accentuate the product in the best possible way.
