The product's CO₂e footprint
In 2020, Rosendahl Design Group started using the Danish CO2 screening tool Målbar. The tool allows informed decisions to be made about materials, processes, packaging, etc. using the fact-based calculation model for life cycle assessment. Rosendahl Design Group uses the tool in production development processes to calculate the carbon footprint of existing products.
The calculations provide insight into which aspects of a product affect its footprint and what changes should be considered to reduce the carbon footprint. Sustainability Manager at Rosendahl Design Group, Eva Samuelsson, elaborates.
By calculating our carbon footprint, we get a clear picture of which products have the greatest environmental impact, and which parts of the products contribute the most. This allows us to target our efforts to reduce climate impact.
We use the Målbar tool to perform Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) calculations on our products. With the LCA methodology, we calculate the products' climate impact in CO2e based on data related to materials, production, packaging, etc.
