A beloved classic in Danish design. Kay Bojesen could create original stories made of wood like no other. He could bring the wood to life. Or as he himself put it: 'The line must smile'. And it does so with the greatest precision and care throughout the series of wooden figurines – each one more iconic in Danish design than the other. This unique birthday train, made from FSC® certified oak with details in smoked oak on the wheels and chimney, is no exception. The Kay Bojesen birthday train measures 37 cm in length and is inspired by an original Kay Bojesen train. It is, of course, intended as a decorative item for birthday celebrations, but the train also works perfectly as a true design icon on the shelf, allowing you to enjoy Kay Bojesen's original stories made of wood every day. The train features a locomotive and two carriages adorned with a flag, presents, the little guardsman and a drum – all festive elements from the Kay Bojesen universe. Numbers from 0 to 9 (including two number 1s) are also supplied and can easily slot onto the train in place of the large red present, allowing you to customise the setup for your particular celebration. In 1922, Kay Bojesen crafted his first wooden figurine, and ten years later, he opened a shop and workshop on Bredgade in Copenhagen. Ever since, Kay Bojesen has been synonymous with original Danish design and is known for his playful universe of iconic wooden figurines, created with incredible attention to detail, infused with humour and the joy of unique quality craftsmanship. That is why we say Kay Bojesen has been original since 1922. WARNINGS: Not suitable for children under 3 years. Remove all packaging before use. The birthday train is NOT a toy and can ONLY be used for decoration. Make sure not to leave the birthday train unattended.

The
Kay Bojesen story

When the Kay Bojesen brand was founded back in 1932, it marked the start of a story about a craftsman with a great sense of humour and plenty of curiosity. Kay Bojesen created his animals and figures based on the philosophy that good design should be accessible to everyone, and over time Kay Bojesen has become synonymous with original Danish design.
