Many of the schnapps glasses are mouth-blown, so small air bubbles may appear.
Holmegaard produces both mouth-blown and machine-blown glass using the latest and most advanced production methods. Whether it’s mouth-blown or machine-made glass, Holmegaard always represents high quality and elegant design. Each piece of mouth-blown glass is unique and handmade by the glassblower, who carefully blows the right amount of air through the narrow pipe. Air bubbles in the glass are therefore inevitable and are part of the charm of mouth-blown glass.
The mouth-blown glass from Holmegaard is recognised by the Nordic Ecolabel, which is also found on some of the schnapps glasses.
For example, you can set a beautiful table with the pretty schnapps glasses on a stem from the Idéelles series from Holmegaard. The designer behind the series is Per Lütken, one of Holmegaard’s most advanced glassblowers, and he has designed the fine hand-blown glass series from 1978. His love of sweeping, feminine shapes is evident in the glass series. The soft, curved edge of the schnapps glass makes it comfortable to drink from and the balanced weight makes it nice to hold. In addition to schnapps glasses, the series includes glasses for various wines, water, champagne, cognac and beer – with and without stems.
Take good care of your glasses
To take the best care of your schnapps glasses, wash them gently to prevent them from breaking. In fact, all glasses can be put in the dishwasher, which is probably good news for everyone who has one. The decisive factor for the best possible dishwashing is actually the temperature at which they are washed. Please take care not to wash your glasses at too high a temperature. Preferably use the dishwasher’s glass programme, if it has one. In addition, make sure that the dishwasher is filled with rinse aid and salt and that it is correctly adjusted to the water hardness. Finally, proper drying is also essential to achieve a good result without any deposits of limescale on the glasses.
When you put your schnapps glasses and any other glasses in your kitchen cupboard or display cabinet, here too opinions vary about how this should be done. The correct answer is that they should stand on their feet. They should not be upside down, which many people think is the correct way, but there is no need to turn the glass upside down. Especially if they are already in a cupboard that protects against dust. The disadvantage of placing glasses upside down is that they absorb the smell of the cabinet shelves. This odour can be more or less unpleasant depending on the surface. Your glasses fare best with air around them.
