Serve your guests water in an elegant Holmegaard carafe
Holmegaard water carafes are Danish design at its best. They are both functional and decorative on the table and in the display cabinet. There are several benefits to serving water in a beautiful carafe. First and foremost, it is beautiful to serve the water in, as it is Danish design of the highest class. Secondly, it's practical both for placing on the dinner table, and storing in the fridge refrigerator, so that you always have ice-cold water to hand – even when it is served. Carafes from Holmegaard are both decorative and practical.
Holmegaard has several different types of carafe, so there's one for every style. If you prefer the classic and traditional style, you’ll love the water carafe from the Cabernet series. Like the rest of the series, the water carafe in Peter Svarrer’s extensive Cabernet series is based on the design philosophy that the products must be functional, modern and have everyday elegance. The water carafe is equipped with a practical, trendy cork, so that fizzy water stays sparkling fresh during dinner. And elegance is evident in the carafe’s design. The carafe is also made of mouth-blown glass, a Holmegaard trademark.
Mouth-blown and machine-blown glass
Holmegaard produces both mouth-blown and machine-blown glass using the latest and most advanced production methods. Whether it’s mouth-blown or machine-made glass, Holmegaard always represents high quality and elegant design. Each piece of mouth-blown glass is unique and handmade by the glassblower, who carefully blows the right amount of air through the narrow pipe. Air bubbles in the glass are therefore inevitable and are part of the charm of mouth-blown glass.
The mouth-blown glass from Holmegaard is recognised by the Nordic Eco label, which is found on all Holmegaard’s mouth-blown glass.
The story behind Holmegaard
Most people probably associate Holmegaard with being a glassworks, but few are aware that Holmegaard is based on a long and proud tradition of glass production that goes all the way back to 1825. Today Holmegaard is a Danish design icon and one of the most recognised names in Scandinavian craftsmanship traditions. And their heritage is more than a tale of quality craftsmanship through time. Holmegaard builds on the legacy of a remarkable woman who must be said to have been ahead of her time, Countess Henriette Danneskiold-Samsøe. The Countess founded a glassworks at Holmegaard marsh, as it was her late husband’s greatest dream to construct a glassworks there. But that's not the only thing that made her so remarkable. She also managed to turn it into an artistic and aesthetic world of design that is still relevant today – almost 200 years later. It’s quite a feat.
So you get much more than just a beautiful water carafe from Holmegaard. You get a carafe in the very highest quality of glass, which is mouth-blown and therefore completely unique. You also get a carafe that is part of Danish design at its best and which is guaranteed to decorate the dinner table beautifully. And then you get a carafe based on a long and proud tradition that was established almost 200 years ago, and which survived despite the setbacks and norms for this time. So when you buy a carafe from Holmegaard, you also get a little slice of history.
