Mouth-blown and machine-blown glass
Holmegaard produces both mouth-blown and machine-blown glass using the latest and most advanced production methods. Whether it’s mouth-blown or machine-made glass, Holmegaard always represents high quality and elegant design. Each piece of mouth-blown glass is unique and handmade by the glassblower, who carefully blows the right amount of air through the narrow pipe. Air bubbles in the glass are therefore inevitable and are part of the charm of mouth-blown glass.
The mouth-blown glass tealight holders from Holmegaard are recognised by the Nordic Eco label, which is found on all of Holmegaard’s mouth-blown glassware.
The story behind Holmegaard
Most people probably associate Holmegaard with being a glassworks, but few are aware that Holmegaard is based on a long and proud tradition of glass production that goes all the way back to 1825. Today Holmegaard is a Danish design icon and one of the most recognised names in Scandinavian craftsmanship traditions. And their heritage is more than a tale of quality craftsmanship through time. Holmegaard builds on the legacy of a remarkable woman who must be said to have been ahead of her time, Countess Henriette Danneskiold-Samsøe. The Countess founded a glassworks at Holmegaard marsh, as it was her late husband’s greatest dream to construct a glassworks there. But that's not the only thing that made her so remarkable. She also managed to turn it into an artistic and aesthetic world of design that is still relevant today – almost 200 years later. It’s quite a feat.
So you get much more than just some beautiful glass tealight holders from Holmegaard. You get the very highest quality of glass most of which is mouth-blown and therefore also unique. You also get tealight holders that are part of Danish design at its best and which are sure to decorate your home. And then you get beautiful tealight holders based on a long and proud tradition that was established almost 200 years ago, and which survived despite the setbacks and norms for this time. So when you buy tealight holders from Holmegaard, you also get a little slice of history.
