Danish design house - 8 iconic brands
At Holmegaard, a heart of fire beats for exceptional Danish glass design. Since 1825, Holmegaard has focused on the highest quality craftsmanship, challenging the potential of glass and creating a long line of iconic design classics that have defined Danish glass history. To celebrate Holmegaard’s 200th anniversary, a special edition of the iconic Kay Bojesen Monkey has been crafted in glass in a truly unique collaboration between Holmegaard and Kay Bojesen Denmark – two of the most beloved and iconic names in Danish design history. The Holmegaard x Kay Bojesen Monkey is an exact replica of the original Kay Bojesen Monkey in wood and comes in three different sizes, all beautifully marking Holmegaard's passion and dedication to pushing the boundaries of what is possible to create in glass. Whether you choose this small one at 14 cm in height, the large at 33 cm, or the mini monkey at 7 cm in height, you get an impressive artwork in glass that crowns the fusion of a world-famous design icon and a deep passion for glass craftsmanship. Both the large and the small Holmegaard x Kay Bojesen Monkey become even more exclusive by being numbered, making them appear truly unique. With the Holmegaard x Kay Bojesen Monkey, Holmegaard is properly celebrated with a new and festive chapter of the finest calibre, which very much belongs on the top shelf of Danish design. And maybe that's where it should be placed? For although the new glass monkey enjoys exactly the same design as its formal forerunner in wood, it probably won't be satisfied with being hung up on the lamp cord or used as a hook. Despite the kinship, the Holmegaard x Kay Bojesen Monkey is entirely its own and functions best as a piece of glass art, shining in the most prominent place on the shelf or as a statement piece in the middle of the sideboard, where its both modern and classic appearance will help create new reflections in glass while radiating the inherent historical anchoring and iconic design heritage that has been a significant part of Kay Bojesen's original stories made of wood for generations. Also, pay extra attention to another significant difference compared to the Kay Bojesen Monkey in wood – namely that the Holmegaard x Kay Bojesen Monkey in glass is exclusively designed to be static and therefore CANNOT move its arms and legs.

HOLMEGAARD'S HISTORY

FOUNDED BY A WOMAN WHO WAS AHEAD OF HER TIME

Holmegaard is a Danish design icon and one of the most recognised names in the Scandinavian tradition of craftsmanship. The long and proud tradition of glass production dates back to 1825, when Countess Henriette Danneskiold-Samsøe created an artistic and aesthetic design universe at the glassworks.
