KÄHLER IS ABOUT HANDMADE
DESIGN TRADITIONS

Hand-painted design traditions and iconic sculpture design in a contemporary light.

The story of Kähler is about heritage and authenticity, and how a design collective has been making and developing original Danish ceramic craftsmanship since 1885.

A collaboration with a variety of Denmark’s leading artists
Kähler builds on a unique cultural heritage, where art and craftsmanship have always gone hand-in-hand. Since its foundation in 1839, Kähler has left its solid mark on Danish ceramic craftsmanship by creating design classics where the signature handmade craft continues shine in either the shape or the decoration.
These proud handmade design traditions are the result of a special design collective between Kähler and Denmark's leading artists, which has existed since 1885 to create Kähler’s iconic designs.
Visiting artists in the collective included Svend Hammershøi, who joined the pottery workshop as a young apprentice and later designed the classic vases with the well-known grooves.
