Kähler
Character
With the Character series, Kähler once again pays tribute to the handmade design traditions. Via a collaboration with sculptor Malene Bjelke, a series of five unique figures have been created. The Reflective, The Delightful, The Curious, The Attentive and The Dreamer each have their own narrative and reproduce simple and uncomplicated everyday reflections in a simplified, naturalistic series that honours authentic human traits.
The five characters in the Character series all possess a distinctive sense of space. Each one reflects the beauty of human beings in its own special way. With an angular, imperfect and unpolished expression, they leave room for tranquility and reflection, which is both an exciting current trend and allows you to create a personal home decor or give a very personal gift.
While working with the Character series, Malene Bjelke has honed in on various aspects of human life and during modelling focused on the small biases that help create dynamics and uncover beauty. That’s why each Character from Kähler is organic and timeless, and with its unglazed finish, it is both artistic and decorative.
Historically, Kähler has had a proud tradition of making ceramic figures and has worked with some truly great Danish artists over the years. Kähler’s Character series is therefore also part of a proud artistic legacy, a legacy kept alive by introducing artistic and bold elements inspired by the past and designed for the present.

It marks the start of a unique design adventure that will one day resonate around the world. However, it is only when his son Herman A. Kähler takes over the famous workshop in 1875 that the ceramic adventure really begins.
