The Quietness
We are often subject to our busy life causing so much bustle and disturbances all around us that we easily forget that there at all exists a state of tranquillity. And satisfaction. Because even though we are aware of that this quietness exists, finding it still seems like one of the rare occurrences in life. Perhaps, this is precisely why it is a feeling, that we strive for and hope to find in one way or another. With the series The Quietness, artist Louise Hindsgavl through her figurative art invites us to think about several of life’s deep emotions. With the expressive figurines, Louise Hindsgavl and Kähler want us to stop. And by giving The Quietness figurines a searching look be influenced by the expression, bringing a touch of calmness along. The Quietness figurines in glazed ceramics should make us pause and reflect on something as great as the joy of life. The figurines symbolise serenity, zest for life and satisfaction with one’s own existence. At the same time, they symbolise strength. The Quietness figurines are 12.5-cm tall, available in purple, blue and this grey variant. The colour starts with a white glaze from the head slowly fading into a colour bringing the figurine from light to dark. All exude Kähler’s authenticity and handmade design traditions. And as always, Louise Hindsgavl’s challenging form of expression prompts us to have a conversation about some of life’s often somewhat difficult questions – like why do we as modern people often find it so difficult to relax and just be ourselves? Because, in addition to creating modern art and design for your home, Louise Hindsgavl uses The Quietness figurines to create a mental platform making it possible for us to find peace by living in the moment and being present. We should not worry but be satisfied with ourselves and with the conditions. The Quietness are only sold at the Holmegaard Værk and at Rosendahl.com. Only 200 pcs are produced. of each color and they are all numbered. We cannot disclose what number your figure has/sheep.

The Kähler story

A unique design adventure that began in 1839

The story of Kähler begins as early as 1839, when the Dutch potter Herman J. Kähler opens a small ceramics workshop in Næstved and turns the first Kähler vase. It marks the start of a unique design adventure that will one day resonate around the world. However, it is only when his son Herman A. Kähler takes over the famous workshop in 1875 that the ceramic adventure really begins.
