Hammershøi Spring
Hammershøi Spring is a simple and stylish spring series from Kähler, where the classic grooves from the Hammershøi series meet motifs by the artist Rikke Jacobsen. Easter is spring's atmospheric occasion and, through Hammershøi Spring, Kähler gives Easter and spring the attention it deserves. The classic, grooved Hammershøi tableware has been adorned with pretty motifs, such as daffodils, eggs, rabbits, and a branch with delicate, fresh leaves, which testify that spring is on its way.
The colours and motifs create a very special look in conjunction with the iconic, grooved porcelain, designed by Hans-Christian Bauer. Moreover, the decorative harbingers of spring will stand strong as functional mood-makers in Scandinavian homes. Because when the pieces of tableware, in line with Kähler’s handmade design traditions, are decorated with hand-painted watercolours, it helps to bring a poetic and authentic look into the home, while summer inches closer each day.

With Hammershøi Spring, Rikke Jacobsen has based her work on some traditional Easter motifs, while also adding something new to give them a twinkle in the eye. The Hammershøi Spring range is supplemented by new motifs every year, and you can clearly feel the pretty spring feelings in the porcelain thanks to Rikke Jacobsen’s poetic lightness. The motifs are classical but, with her special touch, she manages to bring them to life and make them modern, building bridges between traditional Easter decorations and contemporary home decor.

Rikke Jacobsen
Rikke Jacobsen is a Danish contemporary artist and ceramic designer who, with a special naturalistic and poetic touch, masters the simplicity of details in her often experimental and modern design. She has a strong sense of Scandinavian design tradition and identity, and has expanded her skills as a ceramic designer with a degree in design from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London.
Rikke Jacobsen is particularly known for her watercolour decorations. Over the years, she has beautifully unfolded and developed the Scandinavian identity in her many illustrations, inspired by both botanical and delicate, divergent compositions.
For example, you will come across Rikke Jacobsen’s distinctive stroke in the beautiful decoration of Hammershøi Poppy, where she has chosen the delicate pink poppy in her watercolours to emphasise the flower’s own poetry, fragility and grace. While working on this dinner service, she explored the different stages the poppy's beauty – the stem, the first bud and the flower in full bloom - and decided that there was something classic, elegant and Nordic about it – just like the Hammershøi service, which serves as the canvas.
It is also Rikke Jacobsen’s design that can be found in the Hammershøi Christmas series, where she tells small stories with cones, angels, walnuts, birds, cones and stars. And Kähler’s magical Easter collection, Hammershøi Easter, is also decorated with newly sprung branches and traditional Easter symbols, hand-painted by Rikke Jacobsen and transferred to the porcelain.
