DAN-ILD
DAN-ILD
Since the 1950s, the well-known and much-loved DAN-ILD range of ovenproof dishes and bowls from Lyngby Porcelæn has been a feature of homes all over the Nordic region. With its functionality and simple design, the range was one of the most popular of the time. It was also ahead of its time – a trailblazer. And that laid-back approach to cooking, which is a big part of our identity in the Nordic region, was in many ways formed when Lyngby Porcelæn launched DAN-ILD in the middle of the last century.
Until then, it had been almost inconceivable to take the creamed potatoes, the roast beef and the cauliflower cheese straight from the oven and onto the table. But with DAN-ILD it became acceptable, as the materials could withstand it and the design allowed it. You can now have the beautiful DAN-ILD design in a modern reinterpretation, created by the Danish design company Stilleben, which has simplified and interpreted the classic blue flame and created a brand new ovenproof range with playful blue dots, lively stripes and distinctive zigzag patterns.
All the patterns on the dishes, bowls and gravy boat have the same dark blue colour, contrasting beautifully with the grey-brown, glazed porcelain, which with its rustic retro-feel provides an authentic contrast to the very modern and graphic decorations. A balance between past and present that will appeal across generations and keep the range popular for many years to come.
Lyngby Porcelæn has always been known for creating visionary designs that are both contemporary and timeless – combined with a unique ability to challenge conventions with new, functional products. So it’s not surprising that Lyngby Porcelæn was the first to introduce ovenproof dishes that could be taken from the oven and placed straight onto the table. The functionality now is exactly the same as it was then, but the design has been given a modern, graphic edge that gives the range the potential to become a new, modern classic.
